Panthers finish 2nd at the State Championships...
Fresno City repeats as
Champs
Leading the way for
the Panthers were Gavin Ludwig (165) who finished in 2nd place in his
weight class and Isa Hurtado (133) who came in 3rd place.

Isaiah Hurtado
was selected the Outstanding Wrestler in the Big 8 Conference and
was also 1st team All-Big 8 Conference as well as 4 other Panthers.
The others were Nathan Monck, Tim Nevarez, Gerson Nkunku and Paul
Buchanan. Making 2nd team All-Big 8 were Shawn Porter and Efren
Rodriguez. City went 4-0 in the Big 8 and won the Conference in a
big way. They won 34 of 40 Matches to dominate the competition.
Alumni Updates
-
Joe Garner (149) and
Tyler Diamond (141) both took 4th place for Division 1 North Dakota
State at their own tournament. Garner had 3 wins and Diamond 4 wins
along the way.

Anthony Harris (141)
went 6-1 at the Southern Oregon tournament to capture 5th place
competing for D 1 Oregon State. This tournament has a wrestle in
first day and then a single elemination second day.

Kevin Keisler (197)
took 5th place for NAIA Dickinson State. This qualified Keisler for
the NAIA National Tournament.

Also wrestling for
DSU were Jesse Hellinger (184) and Chris Brusato (157). Hellinger
had two falls to make the semi, but had to default out. Brusato went
2-2 on the day.

In another
tournament Albert Tapia (125) finished in second place while Dyllan
Snavely (285) finished in 4th place. Tapia defeated both the second
and third seeds before losing in the finals in OT. This qualifies
Albert to the NAIA Nationals. Snavely lost to his teammate for 3rd
place. He defeated the same teammate last week in another tourney to
qualify for the NAIA nationals. Both are seniors this year.

So in the first two
weeks of the season, three former Panthers have qualified to the
NAIA National tournament. Kevin Keisler (197), Albert Tapia (125)
and Dyllan Snavely (285). Good start for the Panther alumni!!!
