2nd Place at Nor-Cal Championships

‎133 Pound Champ Isa Hurtado

  • Isaiah Hurtado was selected the Outstanding Wrestler in the Big 8 Conference and was also 1st team All-Big 8 Conference as well as 4 other Panthers. The others were Nathan Monck, Tim Nevarez, Gerson Nkunku and Paul Buchanan. Making 2nd team All-Big 8 were Shawn Porter and Efren Rodriguez. City went 4-0 in the Big 8 and won the Conference in a big way. They won 34 of 40 Matches to dominate the competition.

Alumni Updates

  • Joe Garner (149) and Tyler Diamond (141) both took 4th place for Division 1 North Dakota State at their own tournament. Garner had 3 wins and Diamond 4 wins along the way.

  • Anthony Harris (141) went 6-1 at the Southern Oregon tournament to capture 5th place competing for D 1 Oregon State. This tournament has a wrestle in first day and then a single elemination second day.

  • Kevin Keisler (197) took 5th place for NAIA Dickinson State. This qualified Keisler for the NAIA National Tournament.

  • Also wrestling for DSU were Jesse Hellinger (184) and Chris Brusato (157). Hellinger had two falls to make the semi, but had to default out. Brusato went 2-2 on the day.

  • In another tournament Albert Tapia (125) finished in second place while Dyllan Snavely (285) finished in 4th place. Tapia defeated both the second and third seeds before losing in the finals in OT. This qualifies Albert to the NAIA Nationals. Snavely lost to his teammate for 3rd place. He defeated the same teammate last week in another tourney to qualify for the NAIA nationals. Both are seniors this year.

  • So in the first two weeks of the season, three former Panthers have qualified to the NAIA National tournament. Kevin Keisler (197), Albert Tapia (125) and Dyllan Snavely (285). Good start for the Panther alumni!!!
